September Events

Summer is quickly ending, and the back-to-school season has begun. The first weeks of school are exciting with new networks, and the beginning of new projects. If you find yourself in a creative rut, we have listed several events in town that will surely inspire you and help you get that creative energy going.
Here are several dates you might want to put in your calendar.

September 6, 2012
Seattle’s Art Walk is always a great place to get inspired. The biggest one happens on the first Thursday of every month. You can peruse downtown’s galleries and submerge yourself in culture. SAM is always a great place to go to, it is big enough that you could spend the entire afternoon there, so plan your trip well, because there are so many little galleries and art shows happening from the market down to Pioneer Square this day.

Baubles and Bubbly is a jewelry making event at the Tacoma Art Museum. It starts at 5:30pm on September 13. The cost is $45 for non-members and $35 for members, and it pays for supplies hors d’oeuvres and a flight of champagne. Tacoma Art Museum encourages participants to bring their own found objects that could be incorporated in their jewelry pieces.

September 20-23, 2012
Seattle Design Festival is coming back for its second year in a row. This year, it is going to be in South Lake Union, and the space itself is going to be constructed out of shipping containers! It is going to be an eventful weekend, with lectures at the Cornish College of Arts, and several little galleries and shows.
September 30, 2012
For the recent graduates that miss school and want to do a project, the Emerging Jewelry Artist Award is taking entries for this year’s prize. The deadline is on the 30th of September. You must be a recent graduate to participate.

With all these inspirational events going on, you will want to visit Seattle Findings for all your tools and supplies need for your future projects. We offer 10% discount for students, and we just started selling some kits that will be helpful in your jewelry-making career. I especially like the Soldering Kit we carry. It comes with a book that is very helpful, easy to read, and full of images.
Have a great September everyone!
